October 2013 – How to Launch a Successful Online Marketing Campaign Targeted to a Specific Vertical

Most partners think that marketing to a target business vertical is putting up a page on their website with boilerplate text and a headline like “ERP for Process Manufacturing”  or “CRM for Financial Firms”.   An effective vertical marketing campaign starts with a landing page or a mini site that makes the visitor feel like you have deep experience within this vertical.  It should include case studies, links to recent blog posts about the vertical,  a relevant white paper, demo videos, pricing and a free trial offer.   Furthermore you should not rely on just SEO for traffic. You should be willing to pay for traffic with PPC and directories like SoftwareAdvice.com, Capterra and FindAccounting Software.  You should also be driving traffic with blog posts and directory listings (particularly Microsoft PinPoint).
